The Australian Southern Cassowary
This strong bird is symbolic of sticking up for yourself. Though real and mythical cassowaries will rather retreat than fight, if boundaries are crossed, they will defend themselves and those important to them. The myth reminds us not to judge by looks.
Cassowary is listed as an Endangered species. The Cassowary is regarded as a ‘keystone’ species. Through eating rainforest fruits.. Without them, the integrity of rainforest structure is in peril.
Description
My favourite bird in Australia! Cassowaries are one of only a few species that can disperse large rainforest fruits and are the only long distance dispersal agents for large seeded fruits. Sadly they are endangered!
This special and unique cup is handmade with strong Stone ware or Mid-fire clay, thrown on the pottery wheel. Hand-painted with engobes, oxides & clear glaze. It is finished with a shining surface glazes and is food safe.
Care Instructions
Cup is microwave and dishwasher safe, although hand washing will prolong the life of any handmade pottery.
